Accreditation and the Impact on Distance Learning

Higher education leaders obviously need to have a discussion on “regular and substantive” interaction in higher education and the role of accreditation in distance and online education, thus the creation of this one-day symposium in Dallas, Texas, on Friday, April 15th. This event will bring together a cross-section of educators to discuss the high-trending topic of accreditation and distance learning programs. Pivotal is dialogue with leadership from regional and national accreditors, college accreditation liaisons, distance education administrators and other stakeholders involved in distance and online education.

This panel features: Dr. Ellie Fogarty, Vice President of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; Dr. Kevin Sightler, Coordinator of Substantive Change, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges; Dr. Christopher Oberg, Vice President/COO, WASC Senior College & University Commission; and Dr. Leah Matthews, Executive Director, Distance Education Accrediting Commission.

This panel will include higher education leadership including Dr. Kate Kazin, Chief Academic Officer, College for America at Southern New Hampshire University, Dr. Dick Senese , Interim President of Capella University, Dr. Kim Siegenthaler, Director of Mizzou Online, among others.
